Hi! I just came across your comment here, and it sounds very similar to a Grimm fairy tale called "Cat-Skin."
It's a bit different: In Cat-Skin, the mother makes the father promise that he'll only marry a woman as beautiful as she is, with hair the same golden color as hers. His daughter is actually the only woman in the kingdom who fits the description, so he proposes to her.
She then tries to force him to give it up by putting a condition on the marriage: Before she'll marry him, he has to bring her a golden dress, a silver dress, and a sparkling dress, as well as a cloak made of one thousand different furs. Etc., etc., she gets them and runs off to another kingdom and is disguised as a servant until the king realizes that she's a princess and marries her. The End. XD
It's probably the same story, only adapted differently...anyway, I hope this helped a little. Bye!
